Opening Online Betting Accounts

Once you've decided which Grand National free bet you're going to claim it's time to open an online betting account with one of our recommended bookmakers.

Don't worry though, it's a very easy process and usually only takes a few minutes.

All you need is a debit/credit card to open an account and once you've filled out the application form and decided on a username and password you'll be able to place a bet straight away.

One thing to remember though is the fact that you must be over 18 years of age to open an account with any of the bookmakers currently operating in the UK.

Opening an Account

Clicking on a bookmakers link on our website will take you directly through to the bookmakers home page where you'll simply need to find the link for opening a new account.

This may be called join or register or something similar.

Once you find it you will be presented with a form, much like if you were buying something online, where you have to supply your name and address and a few other details such as a username and password so you can login each time you visit.

Making a Deposit

Even the best bookmakers require that you make a deposit when opening an account and claiming the free bet that they're offering on the Grand National.

The minimum deposit is usually between £2 and £10. This money is then taken from your bank account (if you used a switch card) or credit card and shown as your account balance.

No more money is taken from your account so its easy to control how much you're spending.

Don't forget, you're free to withdraw your money whenever you want so no problem if you change your mind. Withdrawing money from your account tends to have to be onto the card or into the account you used to deposit.

Placing a bet on the Grand National

Once you have money in your bookmakers account you're free to bet up to that amount on the Grand National or any other horse race, or sport for that matter.

There is rarely a minimum amount for a bet but this is never more than £1 and usually a lot less.

To place the bet on the Grand National page, simply go to the Horse racing section and the Grand National will be well advertised and just click on this link which will take you to the odds.

Thereafter just select the horse you want to bet on and then enter a stake. You will then be presented with a confirmation page detailing the bet that you're about to place.

Claiming your Free Bet

Bookmakers vary greatly when it comes to claiming the free bet that award you for opening a new online betting account with them.

Some immediately credit your account with a free bet that matches the value of the first bet you made with them, others prefer to give new account holders a 'claim code' via a welcome email which can then be redeemed during the betting process.

Another option that bookmakers take when awarding free bets to new signups is to place a free bet token on your account ready for you to use when you so desire.

Customer support departments are usually excellent when it comes to making sure things run smoothly for new account holders - after all, they don't want to lose you after only a few minutes!
