Directions to Aintree Racecourse

Planning on going to watch the Grand National in person at Aintree racecourse? No problem as here at Grand National free bets we've got full directions to hep you find your way there.

The racecourse at Aintree is situated on the outskirts of Liverpool on the A59 Ormskirk to Liverpool Road, just five miles from the Liverpool city centre.

Getting to Aintree racecourse by road from the South: Leave M6 at Junction 21A and join M62 west. Leave M62 at Junction 6 to join M57 and then simply follow the signs for 'Races'.

From the North: Leave M6 at Junction 26 and join M58 and follow signs for 'Races'. From Mersey Tunnel: Follow signs for Preston, then for A59, then signs for 'Races'.

Aintree Car Parking

There's limited car park spaces at Aintree with parking around the racecourse minimal at best. It is recommended you use the 'Park& Ride Scheme' operational at Brookfield School in Kirkby.

This hard standing car park is free and is well signposted from junction 6 of the M57 motorway.

The free coach transfer transports you to the Seeds Lane entrance of the racecourse and returns at the end of racing. The free on-site coach park is for parties who have pre-booked the Tattersalls or Steeplechase car parks.

Travelling By Train

One of the best ways to get to the racecourse is to take the train. The nearest mainline train station to Aintree is Liverpool Lime Street. Liverpool Central Station is just a short walk from Lime Street, where you can catch a train to Aintree.

Advance Booking Office

It is important that you book your admission tickets and badges well in advance of the Grand National Meeting. An Advance Booking Office will be open from Monday to Saturday as is located on Grand National Avenue.

It's advisable to note that tickets available from this office will be subject to availability.

Aintree Opening Times

As there are massive crowds and very tight security it is recommended that you travel and get to the racecourse as early as possible the course is open from 10:00am on Thursday and Friday and 9:00am on Saturday to ticket holders.

Just be aware that very strict security measures in place all bags and personal possessions must go through scanning equipment.

Aintree Race times

Racing on Thursday and Friday starts at 2:00pm. On Saturday, racing will commence at 1:45pm with the Grand National at 3:45pm. On each race day, racing concludes at roughly 5:30pm.
